Kogebog for Smaa Husholdninger, compiled by Anne Marie Mangor and first issued in 1837, became one of the most widely circulated Danish cookery books of the nineteenth century. Aimed at modest urban households, it codified everyday bourgeois cooking in plain Danish prose and ran through numerous editions, lending Madame Mangor's name lasting authority in Danish domestic culture and shaping middle-class culinary practice well into the following century.

Rødgrød med fløde
Signature dishA glossy crimson pudding of summer berries thickened to a trembling set and served cool beneath a pour of cold cream, rødgrød med fløde stands as one of the dishes most closely linked with Madame Mangor's little household manual. Her 1837 book brought such homely Danish sweets into the kitchens of modest urban families, and this rosy compote became emblematic of the unpretentious, thrifty bourgeois cookery she championed for generations of Danish housewives.
